The Nokia 808 PureView is an extraordinary camera phone. Simply in terms of its image-making capabilities, it sets a new benchmark for the industry. The Nokia 808 PureView is equipped with a 41MP sensor and Carl Zeiss lens. What makes its camera exceptional is the large image sensor combined with incredibly powerful image processing technology. It comes equipped with NFC (Near Field Connectivity), a clever new technology that lets you share information with other NFC devices with a simple tap. Nokia 808 PureView cleverly optimises photo file sizes for uploading. This Nokia phone’s display is an ample 4-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with an adequate resolution of 640 x 360 pixels.

Nokia Maps is free, turn-by-turn navigation for over 100 countries, and comes preloaded with Nokia 808 PureView. Nokia Drive is turn-by-turn voice navigation that’s fully optimised for in-car use, and complete with safety features like speed camera and limit warnings.

The secondary front-facing camera is 0.3 megapixel and can be used for video calls. The Autofocus on the camera is extremely helpful. Additionally, the phone comes with an abundance of camera features such as Red-eye reduction, Carl Zeiss optics, Touch focus, Geo-tagging and Face detection. Nokia has now promised to provide their customers with a superb sound quality on their devices by joining hands with Dolby Laboratories, the audio clarity being a standout feature of this phone. Watch movies or listen to music, and you’ll hear superb surround quality – up to 7.1 channels. It even works with YouTube videos. Packed into the Nokia 808 PureView is a Dolby Headphone virtualiser, which creates a surround sound experience through any stereo headphones when you play stereo or multichannel audio.

The phone is bulky in its presence and weighs in at 169 g, and measures 4.88 x 2.37 x 0.55 inches. The edges of the phone have a curved finish to them. The display is well protected by the tried and tested Corning Gorilla Glass. The display has an ambient light detector and brightness control which serve their purpose by helping to conserve battery. The device also comes with an orientation sensor (accelerometer) which understands the position in which the device is held so as to adjust the display for optimized viewing. Its 1400 mAh battery is rated at up to 6.5 hours of talk time, and up to 540 hours of standby time. The device comes with an internal memory of 16 GB and 1 GB ROM. The expandable memory slot allows up to 32 GB extra memory via a micro SD card for your music collection.

The phone has a few apps for the business minded customers as well. These are Document Viewer and Pushmail. Additionally, the phone comes with FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) and FOTI (Firmware over the Internet) which allow the user to update their firmwares via the service provider or online in an easy manner.
